Flexi Domains 1.0 Help

Delete a domain name

Removes a domain from your portfolio in Flexi Domains.

What it does not do

It does not cancel or release the domain. You still own it, it still renews, and you are still billed by your registrar. To give up a domain, do that at the registrar.

It does not delete the domain's zone. The zone lives in your own AWS account and is a separate thing, managed by administrators on your account.

What happens to the zone depends on what you granted the connection:

  • If the connection can delete zones, Flexi Domains can remove it as part of this.

  • If it cannot, the zone stays in your AWS account for you to remove yourself. Flexi Domains tells you this rather than failing silently, so you know there is something left to clean up.

Neither is a fault. The second is the correct outcome of connecting an account without delete permission, which is a reasonable thing to have done.

When to use it

Deleting is right when you no longer want to track a domain: it was sold, transferred away, or added by mistake.

If you still own it and simply do not want it cluttering the list, consider whether removing it is what you want. The portfolio is most useful when it matches what you actually hold.
